Vintage Mid-century vase by Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala - 1960s

A most collectible and very rare piece of Scandinavian art glass by Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala. Clear glass with engraved pattern that gives a feeling of an iceberg.
Measures: 5” inches tall by 3 ½” inches wide by 1 ½” inches deep. The signature is on the bottom: Tapio Wirkkala 5283
Condition: There is one small chip on the edge of the rim, but this doesn’t detract from beauty or quality of this piece.

History: Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985) Finnish Designer
Tapio Wirkkala is among the most defining personalities in Scandanavian design. He was inspired by the basic principles of natural forms. He was among the major and style defining designers of porcelain and household items, important way beyond Finland.
